Hershey Magic is pleased to offer the Central Pennsylvania community a new learning opportunity! With the addition of our new magic shop, located at the Colonial Park Mall (in the Bon Ton Wing), Harrisburg, PA 17109, it’s never been easier or more convenient to learn magic! Our flexible schedule and low rates make it convenient and affordable for everyone interested in the art of magic! Magic classes are offered for ages eight and up!

All materials will be provided to the students so you’re not obligated to purchase anything else for the course!

Magic lessons are scheduled at the following times:

Call to schedule a lesson at least 1 hour before you would like to come!

You only need to attend ONE class per week. There is a new lesson every week. The various class times are simply designed to give you a flexible schedule, and work the magic lesson around your own schedule!

Beginner Lessons ($160.00 for individual live training (8 week course) or $60.00 for the DVD version of the exact same class we teach at the shop! Free support is provided with every DVD pruchase)

Our eight week basic course is designed for the beginning magician, interested in getting started in magic.

Beginning students will be taught:

• Basic magic tecniques
  
• Basic slight of hand
  
• Basic card tricks
  
• Basic coin tricks
  
• Magic tricks with common items
  
• Magic ethics
  
• Basic card forces
  
• Simple and effective magic

The classes will take each student step by step, carefully explaining the moves and techniques, through every lesson.

Upon completing the basic course, each student should be able to successfully demonstrate various magic tricks with a deck of cards, coins and common objects using the techniques taught during the course. At the end of every lesson, students will be encouraged to practice the new techniques during the week, prior to the next class. Additional reenforcement will be given as needed. As the course progresses, each student should be able to use the skills learned in conjunction with the new lessons.

In order to give each student the time and attention they deserve, classes will be limited to no more than six students per class. Students who successfully complete the basic course will be invited to move up to the intermediate course to continue their training.

Intermediate Lessons ($350.00 for individual live training - 10 week course)

The intermediate class is for students who successfully complete the basic class. The training will take their learning to the next level, over ten weeks, and cover topics such as specialized card manipulation, in depth slight of hand, illusion concepts and design, misdirection, basics of stage magic, show structure, performing for an audience, finding resources for magicians, specialized magic (Coins, cards, illusions, escapes, working with animals, etc.) and creating your own patter to personalize your routines.

Each student will be expected to practice between lessons, to increase their ability. Keith Hanshaw and Tom Naran have a combined experience of over thirty-five years in magic. Their experience, along with the experience of special guest instructors will give you the ground work for a strong foundation in magic. Students who successfully complete the intermediate course will be recommended and sponsored for membership into the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM). This world class organization has a local ring that meets on the second Thursday of every month. Magicians from Central PA get together to discuss tricks and exchange ideas. All of the Instructors are members of the IBM.

Advanced Lessons ($50.00 per class)

The advanced class expands on the previous lessons with attention to stage presence, acting, voice projection and performing in front of large audiences.

This course is only recommended for individuals interested in the major performing aspect of the art. At this point in your training, you should be able to determine which style of magic you prefer, and direction will be based on your personal preference. Magic is an ongoing process where you learn new things all the time. Because of this, the advanced course is designed to help you for as little or as long as you feel you need to attend. There is no set length on the advanced course. Advanced students will receive one on one training to help them refine their skills. Students who excel may even be asked to join our team of elite performers and get paid to perform!
